FAQ

What was your first reaction when you heard that you won the Green Card Lottery?
TL,DR: I couldn’t believe it. It took me 30 minutes to realize it was real. I even verified if the email i’ve recieved was not a scam. In fact I didn’t even remember I applied!Flashback: I applied in October 2010, after a six-week trip in Southern California. I was back in Paris and I was suffocating. I missed the space, the nature, the friendly and warm SoCal, the weather, etc.So I applied in late 2010 after I took my first full time employee job. It was easy, I just needed to fill out a form, send a couple of pictures taken by a professional photographer (I remember the ugly beige and purple striped sweater I was wearing too! A pure fashion piece now archived into the immigration administration database.) and uploaded all to the dedicated website. Note that the department of state only opens that website during the time of application, during about a month.Fast forward: I checked my applicant status in May 2011, with zero hope I could have won. And I didn't find my name in the annual bulletin.Life had moved on, I started to date my soon to be husband, I changed job - which was horrible - but once in a while me and my husband we were taking about our dream jobs and life. He was telling me that he always wanted to covered NBA basketball (we literally live 20 min from the Oracle stadium and he’s still too shy to apply) and I was telling him that I always wanted to cover tech industry in the San Francisco Bay Area (I’m not lying). But then, on Friday, July the 13th (I’m not joking), I received an email from the department of state let me know that I should check again my status, forwarding me my application number, which I did, and I was pre-selected!Again, I couldn't believe it, so I stalk all the Internet to make sure that the email was a scam. But since the domain name associated to the email was “state.gov”, my doubts were dismissed and I started to compulsively repeate “No!”.Now I can tell you when I called my husband and my mom how their first reactions were. But that’s another story.
How do you check on the status on a Walmart application you filled out online?
Other than contacting the personnel manager of whatever store you applied to, there isn’t much you can do to check on the status of your application. The thing is the entire job application process for major corporations has changed. With Walmart you apply online. That files is run through various programs and algorithms which seek to discard any that contain definitive red flags, or names that have been deemed “Do Not Hire” or “Do Not Rehire”. Those same programs and algorithms also seek to push to the forefront any applications which contain keywords and phrases that it is looking for specifically to hire. Once they have run through the gamut of analyses, any that pass muster are then sent to whatever stores you included in your application. So there may be numerous stores that receive it, depending on what you entered when applying. After all that if any store that receives it has an opening that matches what you put down as interests with regards to various positions, you may get called for an interview. That might take less than a day, or it might take several months. It depends on need and the availability of stores having open reqs. Once you’re called for an interview, you will usually be made an offer that same day, unless they decide you just aren’t a fit for what they are looking for.
How can I find out my PAN card application status as it shows “record not found”?
Record not found - means that you have submitted your PAN Card application either at NSDL or UTI, but your application data is not found in their system. This happens when the TIN Center or PAN Card office have not yet processed your application, because they have not received the physical copy of your PAN Card application or the agent to whom you have given your PAN Card application, has not yet submitted your application to NSDL or UTI.NSDL has better controls in place when it comes to processing PAN Card applications. Once the application is submitted in their system, the TIN FC / PAN Card office should forward it to them for processing within the next 3 days. Otherwise the TIN FC/PAN Card office gets penalised. To my knowledge, UTI does not seem to have such controls in place. Their processing of PAN Card application is different than NSDL, and cannot be tracked as it is done at NSDL.Please check with the TIN Centre or PAN Card office if they have forwarded your PAN Card application to their respective offices or the agent to whom you had given your application has actually submitted it.If you do not find any progress after contacting the TIN FC/PAN Card office then I would suggest that you contact NSDL or UTI office directly, either by phone or in person. You may find it difficult to get them through phone. If phone does not work, you may have to visit them in person for a status check. To check the status of your PAN Card application, the following link should help:https://panservices.brokerage-fr...Despite all efforts from your side, if you cannot get your PAN card application processed, you could consider applying again.Hope this information is helpful.Brokerage Free - PAN Services
